Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions students and sponsors ask us most often about how MyAfroScholars works.
For students: who is eligible, which documents you need, how profile verification works, how scholarship matching is decided, what happens after you apply, and how awarded funds reach you.
For sponsors: how to fund a scholarship, how scholars are matched and reviewed, what fees apply, how disbursement is handled, and what reporting you receive once a scholarship is awarded.
Applying is free for students. We do not charge application fees, and no one at MyAfroScholars will ever ask a student for money in exchange for an award. Verification exists to protect both sides — sponsors need confidence that the scholar they fund is real and eligible, and scholars need confidence that the scholarship they apply to is genuinely funded.
Awards are disbursed through the platform rather than handed over informally, which is what makes end-to-end tracking possible. Both the scholar and the sponsor can see the status of a disbursement at any point, and funded scholars submit progress reports covering enrolment and results.
